Night Life

Great night-life is part of being a world-class resort!

In 2012 Zermatt wins the World Snow Awards in the category 'best après-ski', soundly beating St Anton, Ischgl and Meribel among many others.

Après-ski: there are many places to be from 5pm onwards: The Hennustall, at the foot of the run back to the village from Furi, has a live band on most days, as well as a DJ and outdoor and indoor dancing. The bar has a generous array of dangerous shots and other concoctions: try their Vodka Feige for example - the Hennustall offers a unique atmosphere with very friendly staff and management. A natural second stop would be the Papperla Pub (just across the bridge from the church square), this is the liveliest après-ski bar in town, with crowds spilling over into the street and frequent live music.

Recently, close to the Sunnega Express, the Snow-Boat has also emerged as prime apres-ski venue, with live music and exciting cocktails as well as late night house and techno DJ sessions.

Over on the Sunnegga - Rothorn mountain, the Blue Lounge at Blauherd has live music during the day. The Olympia on the trail back to the village remains a good location for on-slope entertainment in the afternoon, along with the Champagne Bar just above it and the new Cervo Bar just beneath it.

The Papperla, back in the village, is a heaving and exciting apres-ski bar with a great feel managed by fun-but-dangerous bar staff... Stu and Pocket in the out-door bar will ply you with Malaka (huh?) while the girls inside will do the rest! Much needed food is also available before you move on to the bar's busy nightclub, the "Schneewitschen" for Hugh's lethal cocktails at "Hughie's bar"upstairs and great tunes. Try these out - but don't say we didn't warn you!

Night-life round-up: Zermatt's night-scene offers a world of variety ranging from the thriving Schneewitschen club (trendy and happening with excellent cocktails) to the eclectic collection of bars and clubs of the legendary Hotel Post, with the stylish Papa Caesar's lounge bar, the Pink live music bar with world class R&B bands which change every week, or the infamous Broken discotheque with the barrel that must be danced upon.

There are many other institutions such as the Sparky's (the seasonaire's hang -out), the Bubble (the ultimate surfer's cantina and bar), The Heimberg (a trendy wine bar and postmodern Alpine restaurant) the Pollux T-bar night club, the Vernissage (stylish cinema, bar, art gallery and clubbing nights), Grampi's live music and disco, or the over-decorated but curiously fanciful Hotel Alex's dancing.
